The hope of the Istrabenz

Since 2003 the Istrabenz Holding Company each year has organised a public personnel competition called ‘The Hope of Istrabenz’. The aim of this competition is to attract promising personnel from some occupations in short supply which we need in our business.

This competition is a specially designed public personnel recruitment vehicle of Istrabenz aiming at attracting a wide selection of candidates.

The winner receives an award i.e. a training course in Slovenia and abroad and is later given the opportunity to join the staff of the Istrabenz Group and to develop their own career.

Who is the Hope of Istrabenz?
The first Hope of Istrabenz is 25-year-old Marko Kukanja from Ankaran, a graduate of the secondary school for catering and the holder of a bachelor’s degree from the College of Tourism in Portorož. He received a good 9 million Slovenian tolars to study abroad at the elite Ritz Escoffier School.

Who is the second Hope of Istrabenz?
Andrej Hrabar, born in 1978 in Koper, holding a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana: “At the moment I am looking for new challenges for the future that will allow me to test my expert knowledge – as well as my perseverance, toughness and readiness to cope with great trials – the qualities I acquired through study and sport. Istrabenz’s competition is therefore an ideal opportunity for me to achieve my goals while contributing my broad scientific knowledge, open-mindedness and ability to co-operate with people with different knowledge.”
In his spare time, Andrej practices rowing (he took ninth place in the double scull without coxswain at the 2004 Olympic Games) and likes to travel.

Who is the third Hope of Istrabenz?
Matej Kocbek
, born in 1982, from Lenart, 5th year of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Maribor: "The procedure for acquiring information that helps us to adopt business decisions is called data mining. Today, thanks to modern technologies this demanding procedure requiring good versatility and business knowledge is no longer so time consuming. Analytical tools rapidly prepare information for the managerial staff which has to make decisions relatively quickly to cope with the ever stiffer competition. Thus, a company has to appropriately define and structure its business processes to enable the analysts to communicate the new information to the management.”
